Alyssa Perez
Alyssa Perez was crowned the 2008 Miss Texas International on April 13, 2008 at the historic Scottish Rite Auditorium in San Antonio, Texas.
Alyssa is twenty years-old and was born and raised in the bustling city of Houston, Texas. She is committed and dedicated to her dreams and the hope of creating a better tomorrow for her community. As a spokesperson for the Gynecological Cancer Foundation and a volunteer for five years at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, she is working hard to educate young women about the importance of prevention and early detection of gynecological cancers. Her goal is to help young women live a life that is cancer free, through her program Everyday Pink.
As a volunteer at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center she discovered the importance of prevention and early detection of cancer. She has endured several years of screenings to prevent or detect signs of breast cancer and ovarian cancer. She has chosen to dedicate her reign to a program she calls “Everyday Pink”. This program educates young women to live a life that will either prevent or detect female cancers. With the support of the Gynecological Cancer Foundation and using a three step process she developed, young women have many options to live everyday with pink in mind.
